In the spring of 1930 a group of sales yarn representatives formed an organi/aiion that would provide an opportunity for them to bring together yarn spinners, weavers, knitters and sales representatives for the pur pose of mutual beitermeni and fellowship. Difficulty of travel, at that lime, somewhat limited the area that this forming group could cover. Therefore, the by-laws of the Assiviaiion called for only those textile mills and sales representatives located in the Carolinas and Virginia be includ ed ill the newly organized Carolina Yarn Association. The first meeting was held in the early summer of 1931 and, except for the war years, the Association has met annually. C) As the lexiile community pro- s|iered, the membership grew in numbers and types of members to include fiber prtxiucers and yarn prtx.essors. Those attending the annual meeting April 22-25 in Pinehursi will come from the entire eastern seaboard due to their textile business in the Carolinas and Virginia.
