The drawing will be presented before the student body Friday. Dexter Tate will receive $25 for selling 57 tickets, the largest number sold by an in dividual. Club members will buy groceries and Christmas presents for the family. Drama Club members visited Limestone College where they participated in the annual Drama Competition as the first performers with “Of Mice and Men,” a play by John Steinbeck. David Rhea won second runner- up for the Acting Award. Hunter Huss received the Best Play and Best Actor awards with the contemporary play, “Stages.” Mrs. Betsy Wells and Mrs. Jeanne Cornett accompanied the students. The FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) sponsored a grilled hot dog sale Wednesday from 2:00 until 3:30 at KMSH. A young lady whose esophogus was damaged in a car accident will receive profits to cover the medical expenses of her second operation. Dr. Joseph Lee presented a slide show and discussed raising honey bees at a Science Club meeting Monday. Members were treated to honey and biscuits afterwards. The club president is Jenifer Pruette, and the sponsor is Phil Bryson. The Business Law Class visited the court in Shelby in order to observe courtroom pro cedure in actual court cases. Blalock, KMSH Senior Advisor, for in formation concerning the date of the representative visit, and for “college day” applications which must be returned two days before the visit. A Central Western College representative visited KMSH Tuesday. The Junior-Senior steering committee met Thursday for the discussion of the prom theme. Steve Baker sponsors the prom committee. Remaining Senior portraits were distributed to seniors who paid the balance of the portrait price Wednesday. Re-orders were accepted with advanced payments-in-full. Unsatisfactory portraits were returned, also. Jolean McHone, KMSH Carousel Princess, and the KMSH Band, participated in the Grover Christmas parade last Friday. The Kings Mountain A’s Baseball team is sponsoring a winter Fashion Show on Satur day, Jan. 3, at Barnes Auditorium at 7 p.m. A Disco Dance will follow the show at the Community Center at 8 p.m. Junior High Jayvees Win Fourth Straight (From Pago 4-A) .|all three went down to defeat for the third straight game. «•* The varsity boys dropped a 66-42 decision in a game played in the KM gym. Arnold Jordan led the Patriots with 14 points, Brad Reynolds had 12 and David Pettus 10. The Patriots were down by only eight, 32-24, at intermission but East tiegan to pull away ear ly in the third quarter. *«* The varsity teams are schedul ed to close out the pre-Christmas portion of their schedule this afternoon at West McDowell. The students used Photos by Lib Stewort rings, posters, and costumes to depict the story in song. Mrs. Darrell Austin directed the musicale. North Students Present Christmas Program A Musical Christmas program by the Third, Fourth and Fifth Grades featured the P-TA meeting last Thursday at North School. The students also presented the program during an assembly Monday afternoon. “The Twelve Days of Christmas,” featuring 12 drum mers, 10 pipers piping, 10 lords leaping, nine ladies dancing, eight maids a milking, seven swans a swimming, six geese a laying, five golden rings, four c^ling birds, three French hens, two turtle doves and a partridge in a pear tree, featured all four third grades at North School. As the various groups sang the use of posters and other background material set the theme. Children dressed in costume for the program, which began with “Christmas 200 Y ears Ago” by the Fifth Grade. A Christmas tree was decorated with pop- cornTcrariBifries.liuts and papier candies. Rocking chairs, oil lamps, and a decorated fireplace set the stage for the musical. Fourth Graders presented a Choral Reading and Symbols of Christmas. The students gave short spieeches on the history of the star, holly, poinsettia, evergreens, Christmas Tree and mistletoe, among the familiar symbols of the holidays.
