Employees and their husbands and wives will gather at the Shelby Elks Club for the traditional party Thursday night. Christmas bonuses and gifts will be presented. Tultex Yarns will suspend operations at close of the third shift tuesday night, resuming work on Sunday night, Dec. 27th. Vacation pay and gifts will be given and each shift has plan ned a Christmas party. Minette Mills of Grover will suspend operations for the holidays all next week. A few employees will be at work during the week completing inventory, but majority of the plant will be taking a week’s holiday. Christmas gift catalogs were distributed and each employee chose a gift of his or her choice. Spectrum, Inc. will suspend operations at end of the second shift Tues., Dec. 23 with third shift employees returning at mid night on Jan. 5th. Vacation pay will be presented to employees based on longevity and Christmas gifts will be presented. A plant Christmas dinner will be held on Monday. Industry Closing Dates Set The city board of commis sioners okayed a two-day Christmas holiday (Christmas Day and next Friday) for city employees and voted to give all permanent employees a week’s pay as a Christmas bonus during a short meeting Monday night. In a third action involving per sonnel, the board amended its personnel policy to state that employees qualifying for medical - care insurance must work for the city at least six months. The pre sent policy allowed coverage afte 30 days employment. The board readvertised for bids for a truck for the Cemetery department after receiving only two bids and advertised for bids for a fire alarm system for the KM Neighborhood Facilities Center. The board also amended the plat of Pine View Sub-Division to revise Pine View Drive on re quest of Todd A. Robinson, at torney.
