McCants-Patrick Vows
Exchanged In Ohio
Miss Janice Ruth McCants
became the bride of Gilbert
Hambright Patrick on Sat., Dec.
6th, in Dayton, Ohio.
The eleven o’clock wedding
.service was performed at the
.Miami Valley Unitarian Church
with the Rev. Dr. Wayne L. .Mc
Coy, minister of the Fairmont
Presbyterian Church, hearing
the exchange of wedding vows.
Larry Patrick of Atlanta,
Georgia, brother of the
bridegroom, was best man.
Mrs. Lynn McCants, sister-in-
law of the bride, presented a pro
gram of traditional music.
The ceremonial altar was ar
ranged with large palms, ferns,
white roses and brass
candlclabra.
The bride was escorted to the
altar and given in marriage by
her father, Roben Orville Mc
Cants. Her wedding gown was
designed from ivory French
angel chiffon in a Victorian
silhouette featuring a delicately
embroidered high neckline and
cuffed Bishop sleeves. She wore
a garland of fresh flowers in her
hair and carried a bouquet of
white roses and gardenias.
Miss Jane Root of Oswego,
New York, was the bride’s maid
of honor. She was dressed in
Copen blue chiffon and carried a
bouquet of white roses,
stephanotis and baby’s breath.
Groomsmen were Robert Mc
Cants of Ardmore, Oklahoma,
Blaine McCants of Raleigh,
brother of the bride, and Richard
Spears of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
The bride’s mother. Dr.
Louise McCants, wore a cham
pagne colored chiffon dress with
white orchids at her shoulder.
Mrs. Mary Helen Patrick,
mother of the bridegroom, was
dressed in a Halston velvet suit
and carried white orchids.
Guests at the wedding were
immediate family members and
close friends.
RECEPTION
After the wedding ceremony
at 12:30 the bride’s parents
entertained for a large number of
guests at a champagne wedding
breakfast on the 12th floor of
Winters Towers, Dayton.
Food was served buffet style
from a beautifully-appointed
table, with small tables encircling
the ballroom for seating guests.
Each table was adorned with
wedding flowers. A1 Giambroni’s
Orchestra played for dancing un
til late afternoon at which time
the newlyweds left for their wed
ding trip to Florida.
BRIDE JkND BRIDEGROOM
The bride is the daughter of
Robert Orville McCants and Dr.
Louise McCants of Dayton,
Ohio and Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
She is the granddaughter of Mrs.
O.J. McCants of Emporia, Kan
sas and the late Mr. and Mrs.
Blaine Spears of Appleton,
Arkansas. She is a 1978 Cum
Laude graduate of Georgia Tech
with a Bachelor of Textile
Engineering. Until her marriage
she was Plant Quality Control
Manager for Burlington in
dustries in Cheraw, S.C.
Mr. and Mrs. Henry
Lawrence Patrick of Kings
Mountain are parents of the
bridegroom. He graduated from
Georgia Tech with honors in
1976 and holds a degree in Tex
tile Management. He is
associated with Patrick Yarn
Mill. The bridegroom is the
grandson of Mrs. Paul Dickson
Patrick of Summerville, S.C. and
the late Dr. P.D. Patrick, former
ly of Kings Mountain. He is also
the grandson of the late Mr. and
Mrs. Gilbert Dixon Hambright
of Kings Mountain.
DINNER PARTY
Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence
Patrick entertained at a formal
dinner party in honor of their
son, Gilbert Patrick and Miss
Janice McCants, on Friday
evening at the Dayton Racquet
Club in Dayton, Ohio.
Larry Patrick and Barbara
Patrick helped to receive guests
and host at cocktails and dinner.
Guests included the wedding
party, the two families, out-of-
town guests in Dayton for the
couple’s wedding and close
friends.
The party room and dining
tables were beautifully
decorated, featuring red roses,
candles and greenery. Each
female guest had a long-stemmed
red rose at her service plate.
After dinner, Larry Patrick
led the guests in toasts to the
couple. Various toasts were
presented to the pair by family
friends.
COCKTAIL BUFFET
On Thursday eVeping, Dec.
4th, Mr. and Mrs. Julia de Bruyn
Kops honored Miss Janice Mc
Cants and Gilbert Patrick at a
cocktail buffet dinner party at
their beautiful home, 3 Forrer
Drive, Dayton, Ohio.
Guests from out-of-town,
family and a large number of
friends from Dayton enjoyed the
lovely event.
May this be a

Luminaries To Glow
On KM*s Crescent Hill
Luminaries will be lighted at
Crescent Hill in Kings Mountain
again on Christmas Eve and
Christmas Day, a custom that
was staned by Mr. and Mrs.
D.E. Tate and Mr. and Mrs. Ir
vin M. Allen several years ago.
Thirty-five homes will be
aglow with lights inside the
residences and outside.
Luminaries will be lighted at
6:30 pan. Wednesday.
The public is invited to join in
the community celebration of
Christmas.
