Presently, he is co captain of the Fort Jackson Soc cer Team and coaches for a youth soccer league there. Sergeant 1st Class Peter Lufte, a senior personnel sergeant at Fort Jackson, has played soccer for more than 30 years. Starting in amateur soccer in his native Germany at the age of five, he eventually entered the German semi-pro ranks before coming to the United States and joining the Army in 1967. In 1973 and 1974, Lufte played for the University of New Mexico in Albequerque was later active in intra-state soccer league competi tion in New Mexico and Alaska. More recently, he has been in volved in a number of youth soc cer programs in Columbia and he officiates for the South Carolina Soccer League. Sgt. Lufte has played on and coached championship soccer teams at Fort Jackson for the past seven years. Both men will be in the physical education classes all day to teach, demonstrate, and coach the rules and fundamentals of soccer to all of the students. The faculty is being invited to par ticipate.
