Bolden of 111 Grandview Ave., Mount Vernon, N.Y., has been decorated with the U.S. Air Force Commendation Medal at Andrews Air Force Base, Wash. The Air Force Commendation Medal is awarded to those in dividuals who demonstrate outstanding achievement or meritorious service in the perfor mance of their duties on behalf of the Air Force. McClain, a construction con trol specialist with the 1776 to Civil Engineering Squadron, is a 1976 graduate of Mount Vernon High School. Her husband. Air Force Staff Sgt. Charles O. IT’S BACK SUSAN & JIMMY HUNTSINGER The late Scott Carrigan, an 11-year-old former Kings Moun tain resident whose determina tion to play baseball after being stricken by leukemia taught everyone in his hometown of Ocala, Fla., a lesson in courage, will long be remembered by those in his hometown who are associated with little league baseball. In simple ceremonies Sat., Apr. 24, the people of Ocala named and dedicated a baseball Held after him. The Clyatt Park Little L.eague Parents Association conducted the ceremonies. Several league boosters and city officials took part. After learning of his disease the winter before, he told his parents he would return to the diamond and through a lot of hard work and determination, he did just that. He pitched another full season before his death. A plaque recognizing Scott was unveiled and will be per manently displayed at the Clyatt Park ba^ball field. The plaque reads: ‘•Scott Carrigan Field. It takes courage to be a winner. One of those who earned that honor was Scott Carrigan. In his memory we dedicated this field April 24th, 1982.
