Hunt is alo seeking his fourth term and has also served on many committes, including Finance, Appropriations, Base Budget, Highway Safety, Library, Manufacturing and Labor, Blind and Deaf, Agriculture, Military and Veterans Affairs, and Rules and Operation of the House, which he serves as chairman. “I will continue to be in terested and work for all the peo ple in the district and will make a very dtermined effort to repre sent everyone well,” said Hunt. “I am willing and eager to offer my time and effort and sincerely ask for suggestions, help and support.” KM Students Raise $1850 For Cancer Fund From Page 1-A decided on the chain link sale, which gave students and teachers the opportunity to pur chase one link of the construc tion paper-made chain for a 10-cent donation to the Cancer Society. “We made 800 links, and thought that would be all we’d need,” they recalled. “As it turn ed out, we made well over 100,000.” The FCA, whose advisor is teacher Steve Baker, did not set a goal. “Mr. Baker told everyone to let their hearts set the goal,” said Janet. ‘To be honest, we thought if we raised $200 it would be good.” Kay Holshouser of the Coun ty Unit came to the school on Monday of last week to kickoff the drive. She showed the film “John Baker's Last Race”, about a coach who dies of cancer, and it inspired the students. For .the remainder of the week, Danna and Janet spent most of their time after school- and all of their spare time during school-making links and coun ting money. There were contests among the classrooms, with the winners getting a free meal at McDonald’s and the winning room receiving a plaque on Awards Day. INC. 901 Henry St. 739-2337 Hospital Week Slated The coordinators feel the suc cess was due to the “personal ex perience” students have had with cancer. “A lot of students,” Janet pointed out, “have ex perienced cancer in their family and we have a lot of students here at school who have it.” Janet recently lost her mother to the disease. “The response was unbelievable,” said Danna. “We never thought we’d get this much.” While many of the students made chain links and counted donations from that project, many boys wearing bermuda shorts walked the halls and let students admire their pretty legs for a donation. Students helping coordinate the project were Lee Ann Lineberger, Sandy Appling, Alison Champion, Terri Plonk, Laura Herndon, Dena Lovelace, Dena Chapman, Terry Odoms, Anita Ware, Wendy Smith, Ann Tate, Jill Yarbro, Beth Ellison, Elizabeth Borchert, Carolyn Smith, Donna Wright and Lisa Roark.
