(ART WRIGHT USING MAPS AND GLOBES On April Bth. the Washington Junior High School teachers as sembled in the Special Education classroom to listen and see a tele vision program. The occasion was Dr. Wiliiam H. Cartwright's demon stration lesson taught to a class of middle grade children. Dr. Cartwright discussed the use of maps an globes. He began his discussion by taking each child on an imaginary trip » supposing that all the pupils were news re porters. After tracing shortes routes from Chape! Hill to various foreign coun tries. he discussed and explained why all maps are not alike and gave a brief description of the four kinds of maps. The general concept concluded was that maps are made for dif ferent reasons and shaped for different reasons. The demonstration was highly enjoyed and vary informative.
