There are then opportunities for
writers with good ideas. Apart from
the many opportunities in screen
and radio writing, in the publishing
end alone there is a place for a
person with talent to make a name
for himself.

Yes, We All Talk
By Marcus li. Boulware
point or order
QUESTION: What is the purpose
of raising a point of order at a
club meeting?—-A Reader.
ANSWER: In the business proce
dure of a club meeting, errors will
creep in. One of the ways to call
attention to such errors is to raise
“a point of order.” Suppose for a
moment that the chairman has put
before the house a question that did
not get a second, and yet it was
being discussed One of the mem
bers, might recognize this error and
say:
‘‘Mr. Chairman, I rise to a point
of order."
The chairman will say:
‘‘State your point.”
The member might j, i.y ••Mr
Chairman, the motion did not ■.
a second."
The presiding officer sensing
the error should say, "Your
point is well-taken - do 1 hear
a second lo the motion?”
As soon a» the motion is
seconded, the chair wiii re
state the motion before the as
sembly and then call for dis
cussion on it.
No vote is necessary on the mo
tion ‘‘Point of Order," and hence
the chairman usually says, "Your
point is well taken,” or "Your point
is not well taken.”
READERS: The write of this
column will write Mr ier s Day
speeches upon request.

Wben you talk abort writing,
most people think about a nav
el. Actually, novels are only a
small portion of the book world.
Textbooks are turned out each
year by the mtliions, often writ

such as teachers, cotlege pro
fessors, specialists in one field
or another.

. . . The difference is at the eating counters or in the toilets
where there are seats . . . Maybe, if the seats were eliminated
in the classrooms, integrating the schools would be no prob
