S Penn of St. j Paul's A M E Church Airs. Lawrence is the daugh ter of the late I>r. and Airs. P W. Moore. Dr. Moore was president emeritus of Elizabeth City Teachers' College. Mrs. ! Lawrence, a graduate of Shaw University and Hampton Insti tute is a tearher in the W. A. Patillo High School in Tarborn. Mr Bethea is cn employee of the Seaboard Railroad Company. The bride was given in marriage j by W. W, Hurdle, principal of the : Lucille Hunter School. The bridal attire was made up jof French Chantilly over white | taffeta with a portrait neckline | and ballerina skirt. She wore a blue net hat and shoes to match ‘ and carried a ptayer book and a ; nosegay of white roses and lillies of the valley The matron of honor was Mrs. Thelma Davenport. She wore n j dress of apricot with an over skirt of nylon chiffon and shoes and hat i to matet. The maids of honor, Mrs. Lillian McDaniel and Mrs. j Thomasine Griffin, wore blue satin dresses, with overskirts of light blue nylon chiffon and shoes and hats to match. BETHEA Thomas Kee To Europe For Study Thomas E Kee. associate pro fessor of romance languages at Shaw University, has received a grant for foreign study from the department of Schools and Col leges. American Baptist Convention Mr. Kee has been selected as one of the 3even students to go on a graduate French study tour of Europe, which is sponsored by Teachers College, Columbia Uni versity, New York. The group will leave .July 5, from New York via air io Fa - ris. motor via Fontainebleu to Veseize PontaWier. Lausanne, Geneva, and will return Aug ust 27. There will be six weeks of study I the institute d' Etudes Francai vs pour Strangers in Pan. con duct by the University of Bor deaux ai its summer session in Pau. The purpose of the tour is to make travel synonymous with education, to enable stu dents to journey to and from foreign lands, this to make pos sible a more enlightened gen oration with a better prospect for goodwill. Mr, Kee received the A. B de gree at. Shaw University in 1947 and the M. A degree in 1948 from Columbia University. He has done further study at Middlebury Col lege. After church services, communion was served. j Dr. R. W. Wisner's resignation from the pastorate of the Method and Piney Grove churches, was j taken with much sorrow. He preached his last sermon at Piney 1 Grove Church Sunday, June 28.
