The pastor. Dr Grady D. Davis,
delivered an inspiring sermon
you could not successfully meet the
things before you? These are the i
times when you can test your faith j
in the omnipresence and omr.ro- j
fence of God
When we turn to God in faithful -
praper. our thoughts are lifted up I
and our entire outlook changes. ■
Through quiet prayer, we can
make contact with the Divine Spir- j
it and we can become conscious
of new power filling our minds
anci blessing ns and all our affairs.
Through prayer and the comfort
ing knowledge it brings of His lov
ing presence we acquire the cour
age and the will to do the things j
that are before us—and arc given |
the understanding we /iced to cope ;
with any circumstance
Unhappiness and inharmony can
have no power over us when we i
continually affirm the pi I’sence and :
power of God in out lives and in i
the lives of all other persons As j
we continue to acknowledge His
presence in and about ns and all i
I other persons—our families, our
friends, our associates —we help to
create harmony in all out human
relationships: we help to bring .
peace to our environment
The light of the Holy Spirit clan- j
i ifies our understanding, and we
i no longer allow persona! bios, pre.i- ;
] udice, or petty selfishness to influ- j
ence our ability to judge rightly, j
in accord with His Word We rel* - j
on the light, of the Holy Spirit to
enable us to discern, truth to dis- j
tinguish the real from th*> false to
identify ourselves with the thing?
of the world, which are transitory
and unsubstantial *

Despite the downpour of rain!
last Sunday, we can thrathfully
boast of fine services If was the !

fine way, his many talents
After the call to worship at ex- |

marched gracefully out 0/ the i

! Fathers.” Tney knelt around the
altar for the prayer of consecra

ology. followed by the pastoral
prayer and choral response, the Ist
hymn, "God Moves In A Mysteri
ous Way.” was sung, lined by our
pastor, the Reverend W. D. Car
son. The responsive reading was
for the 35th Sunday: “Family Re
ligion.”
Scripture . lesson was then read
by the pastor, from St. John, the
11th chapter, comprising 25 ver
ses The fervent prayer was also
I offered by Rev. Carson. Our 2nd
j hymn, “O For A Thousand Ton
gues," was sung while the con
gregation meditated devoutly.
The pastor then chose his text
from the same scripture read: St.
John. 11:21: “Then said Martha
unto Jesus, Lord, if thou nadst
been here, my brother would not
have died ” The minister began by
saying that Martha's faith and
1 belief in Jesus was unlimited
Martha's faith was like a bruised
He then enlarged on the follow
weed
ing points: 1, she believed thaet
Jesus was coming, because she had
asked for Him; 2. she believed He
had the power to save; 1 she be
lieved what Jesus had said 4, she
fell at His feet and caught the
drippings of His word. This mess
age was powerful and one that was
1 greatly enjoyed by *ll present.
Our evening services are just as
enjoyable and spiritual and we in-
