The subject of the lesson was “Jesus Teaches About Suffer ing,” from St. Mark 8:27-34. The program at St. Augusta Church was postponed on March 2, due to the Inclement wea ther. Thorpe, 83, was the son of the late Mr. Jim Kager Thorpe and Mrs. Marylizer Thorpe of Granville County and formerly of Apex. He was married to the late Mrs. Fidle M. Thorpe and to this union eleven children were born. Ten survive. Daughters surviving are: Mrs. Rosia Rudd, Raleigh; Mrs. letta Hopkins, Norwalk, Conn.; Mrs. Julia Ragland, Lilllngton; Mrs, Golia Burt, Fuquay-Va rina; Mrs. Davie Harris, Apex; Mrs. Adella Stewart, Tomacc, Washington; Mrs. Juanita Hood, Hollv SDrines;. and Mrs. Irene Nioklaus of Washington, D. C. Two sons, Mr. Alford Thorpe of Holly Springs; and Mr, Jimmie Thorpe of Greensboro; 36 grandchildren, and 28 great grandchildren. The Young Women’s As sociation of the First Baptist Church postponed its monthly meeting Sunday due to the weather. The Missionary Circle of the United Church of Christ will meet Tuesday night at the home of Mrs. Alice Kimble. A delegation from our P. T.- A. including our principal, Mr. Raymond Perry, Mr. William A. Lassiter, our president, Mrs Grace Cotten, Mr. Wade V, Prince and Mrs. Coretta Merritt attended the Wake County Council of Parents and Teachers Study Course, which was held on February 26, at Milbrook High School.
