Bridge, formerly professor of music at Virginia State College, has been appointed Director of the Division of General Education at the college. Dr. Bridge a native of Detroit, was act ing director before his ap pointment by Dr. James F'. Tucker, VSC 1 president. He will oversee the formal cur riculum at VSC in his new 1 du ties. Dr. Bridge holds bache lor’s. master’s and doctoral degrees from the University of Michigan. He has been on the VSC faculty since 1952. * * * 55,300 men, women and chil dren died on America’s high ways in 1968, according to an annual survey by The Travelers Insurance Companies. Triangle Chapter Os Personnel, Guidance Association Is Formed At a meeting held Tuesday afternoon at the Erdahl-Cloyd Student Union the first local chapter of the N. C. Person nel and Guidance Association was organized. To be known as the Triangle Chapter of the NCPGA, membership of the group will include High School Counselors, persons working in Student Personnel Departments in Higher Education facilities, Teachers of Counseling, Em ployment Counselors, Voca t tonal Rehabilitation Coun selors, and Industrial Per sonnel workers. These mem - bers come from an eight county area which includes the counties of Chatham, Druahm, Granville, Harnett, Johnston, Orange, Vance, and Wake. The business of the first meeting of the Triangle Chapter, NCPGA, included ap proval of the By-Laws of the organization, reports from the national convention of the A merican Personnel and Guid ance Association, and election of officers to serve the local chapter for the coming year. Reports on the national con vention were made by Dr. Roy Andersor. and Dr. William Kopke, both of NCSU, and Mrs. Janet Francis, Counselor at Durham High School. The bill would provide $130,000.00 this year and $325,- 000.00 next year to educate North Carolinians at Duke Uni versity and Bowman Gray me dical schools. Y. - The con viction of three Black Muslims for slaying Malcolm X has been upheld by the state Court of Appeals. The Black nationalist leader was slain while preparing to ad dress some 400 followers in a Manhattan ballroom Feb. 21, 19G5. The court unanimously held that “The proof that the de measures that are intended to alleviate hunger and poverty in the state.
