Pridgen suc ceeds Donald Bret of Pitts burg. Brent is a graduating senior. Pridgen a rising senior at Shaw, lias been active in Stu dent Government and served as Chaplain to the organiza tion last year. He is also a member of the football team, the debate society and numer ous other campus organiza tions. Cabarrus Street had another successful club day last Wednesday, Several ladies spent the day quilting, sawing, knitting and making potholders. One lady, who brought her moth er for the first time, had many words of praise and gratitude that a place like the Senior Citizens Center had been pro vided for older people. The Senior Citizens Center is open dally from 9:00-5:00. Wednesday, June 11, was the day for the special club groups to meet at the center. Citizens were asked to bring any kind of work that you are Interest - Society at NCSU. Tommie Lewey Garner, Jr., a 1969 graduate of Ligon High School, has received the Carter Foundation Scholarship. The son of Mr. and Mrs. T. L. Garner of 2207 Gilliam Lane, Garner will enter NCSU in the fall as a freshman to study tex tile technology. Rufus Dalton of Templon Spinning Mills, Inc. in Moores ville presented Pearce’s award. W. C. Gay, treasurer of the Carter Foundation Inc., in Greensboro, presented the a ward to Garner. The two young men will be studying in an institution for textile education which is noted a-cross the country for the num ber of highly men it furnishes each year to the textile in dustry.
