When Christ was born of Mary, the angels praised God and sang: “Glory to God in Tiighest, and on earth peace, good will toward men” (Luke 2:14). This glad carol of the angels seems farther from the truth today than it ever was, and as a result many have become cynical and have concluded that the Bible is not true; that the angel’s song was but a pleas ant, hopeful thought. Those who feel this way don't know their Bibles very well, though, or they would know why we have such unrest today, instead of peace. Our Lord was indeed the long -promised King, through whom His people and the whole world were to enjoy peace and true prosperity. John the Baptist appeared as the King’s herald. The twelve apostles went forth_ “preaching the gospel of the kingdom’’ (Matt. 4;23).The four Gospel records are filled with proofs and demonstrations of Christ’s royal rights. But the King was rejected, as God has prophesied He would be at His first advent <J Pet. 1:11). He lias pastored New Hope Baptist Church of Chatham County, and the First Baptist Church of Wake County; and he accepted the call to the Greater Saint Paul Baptist Church in June 1965. Some of his accomplishments are: The Hour of Power, a one hour inspirational service held each Sunday morning at 7 a.m., for the benefit of persons from all over tiie cit; - and of every denomination, and for persons who may have jobs that may prevent them from attending the regular Sunday morning services; the veil sacred and impressive Candlelight Com munion, which is held the first Sunday of each month at 7 p, m,; the development of the Children’s Chapel, where child ren are taught Bible stories in a language of their understand ing. saying; “This is Jesus, the King of the Jews,’ Today, then, the King is a roya! Exile from the world over which lie should be reigning. Is it strange, then, that wc do not yet enjoy peace on earth. The second Psalm describes the folly of the nations and their rulers in ignoring this basic fact and predicts that God will laugh, as it were, at their de rision as they seek to run the world without His Son. Thank God, this period of Christ’s rejection is also a wonderful period of grace. When sin has risen to its height. God saved Saul of Tarsus, the leader of the world's rebellion against Christ, and sent him, forth to proclaim! “the gospel of the grace of God" (Acts 20;24) the good news that “Christ died for our sins,” and that are sinner ma\ be reconciled to God In fait! in Christ. This is why the BiWe calls the divine administration under which we are living “the dispensation of the grace of God” (Fph. 3:2). So, while “peace on earth” a waits a future day, we mat now have ‘peace with God, through our Loi ; Jesus Christ” (Rom. 5:1), Under the administration, the membership has increased to over 000 members, with over 400 being baptized and five choirs have been added. The other speakers of the week included Rev. E. T. Thompson, pastor of the Com munity Baptist Church, with the joint board and the Male Chorus as hosts; Rev. w. E.Daye, pas tor of Fbenezer Baptist Church, with the senior choir, Willing Workers and Gleaners as hosts; Dr. William Fuller, pastor of Mount Zion Baptist Church, with the Supply Club, Chancellor Choir and Junior Church Com mittee as hosts; Reverend B. A. Mack, pastor of Morehead Avenue Baptist Church, with the Usher Board, Vets Choir and Daughters of Lydia as hosts; Rev. L. E. Daye, pastor of Shiloh Baptist Church, with the Gospel Chorus, Young Adult Choir and Sunday School Staff as hosts. The groups serving as hosts of the Sunday services were the Pastor's Aid Club, the Men’s Striving Club, the Missionary Circle, the Junior Choir and the Children’s Choir. The week of services was inspiring to the congregation each night, which came in hon or of Dr. Bigelow. Expressions of love,- along with the visiting churches proved the anniver sary to be a complete suc cess. MEDITATION A SERMONETTE BY COLIN DOUGLAS •q therefore . . beseech you to walk worthily of the calling . . . forbearing one another in love: giving diligence to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.” --Eph. 4:1, 2, 3. One of the surest ways to promote your own happiness is to work with the thought of mak ing others happy, to practice be holding them as children of the One Father. You can help to create harmony at home, in an organization, or in a place of business by .seeing only the good in others and working al ways with good will Another person may seem to all appearances to be harsh or thoughtless or unjust, but in reality he is as you are, a divine child of the divine Father. If you will see through the seem ing faults of the perfection with in him, you will help to bring him to a realization of his divine nature. The love you hold foi others will bring untold blessings to you. If >ou are inclined to feel bit ter toward anyone, reverse your attitude. Do not wait for the other person to change, but change your own thought. You will bring good to both, for that is the law of God. You cannot Mess aiiot* er person without being ldessed yourself. Giving of our love and friend ship to those about us is a deter mining factor in experiencing deep satisfaction, .happiness, and joy. Citing of our love and understanding toothers widens the circle of our friends, which in return brightens our life and adds spiritual grace and ’reality to it. ‘ A new commandment I give unto you, that ye love one another; - even as I have loved you, that ve also lore one an other.
