~FUQUAY-VARiNA j BY MRS. LOUISE CAESAR FUQUAY - VARINA - The First Baptist Sunday School o pened at 10 a.m. with the supt., Mr Alford Thorpe, presiding. The opening hymn was "I Am Thine, O Lord.’’ The scripture was read by Mr. Thorpe and prayer was also offered by him. The subject of the lesson was “The Bible Speaks To Our World,” from the Books of St. Luke and Isaiah. The message of the lesson was that Jesus reads the scripture, and woe to the unrighteous. Visiting the Sunday School were Mr. Floyd Sidney and Mr. Clarence Terry of Oxford, who was the guest of Mr. Patrick Harris. The Baptist Singing Union was held at First Baptist Church at 12:30 Sunday. The Method AME Zion singing Union was held at Chalk Level Church at 12. The guest singers were Princess Chapel Gospel Chorus, the Young’s Chapel Choir of Raleigh, and the Gos peletts of Raleigh. Accompaning at the organ was Mr. Willie Henderson of Raleigh.
