HENDERSON - The regular monthly meeting of the Citizens Improvement Association was held last Thursday night at the Spring Street Baptist Church. The main address for the As sociation was delivered by the Rev. Arthur Poole, minister of the United Holi n e s s Church. Rev, Poole put special emphasis on unity. He pointed out how and what we do in order to stick together. 1 ‘To do this,” he says, “we must put God in front.” Visitors present in the meet ing was Mr. James Y, Eaton, the son of the late J. Y. E'.a ton, who practiced law here for a number of years and was prin cipal of the grade school now known as the Eaton Elemen tary School. Mr. James Yeo man commented on the remarks and message given by Rev. Poole. After the regular routine of business, the president, Rev A, L. Day, noted the presence of Mrs. C. C. Faucette, who is an instructor in the Adult Ed ucation classes. She told the adults that the second of three adult classes has been set up at the Spring Street Baptist Church. They are free and those who will take part can earn a high school diploma. Mathema tics and English are being taught. Since there is room for more adults to be enrolled, this writer suggests that all a - whose literary training is below high school level should enroll immediately and take this course. The Association made a do nation to the Voters League for the operation of Us school bus project. The president asked Rev. L, B. Russell to delivei the next address in the month ly meeting. Rev. Pompey Jones, also a visiting minister, offered prayer. The choir sang “At the Cross.” and “He Will Supply Your Need.” Our pian ist for the day was Sister Mary Holmes, due to the fact that our regular pianist, Mrs. Barbara Gales, was absent, visiting her daughter in Greensboro’s A&T University. Rev. Wilson chose his text from the Bth chapter and 6- 10 verses of St. John’s gos pel. His topic was “Look Your Accusers In the Face.” This they said, tempting Him, that they might have to accuse Him. But Jesus stomped down, and with His fingers wrote cm the ground, as though He heard them not. So when they continued asking Him, He lifted up Him self, and said unto them, ‘He that is without ski among you, let him first cast a stone at her.’ And again he stooped down and wrote on the ground. We ended our services with prayer around the altar. Visi tors for the day were from San ford, Mrs. Katie Hooper’s nieces and nephew. We had two selections rendered by her great nieces, which were en joyed by all. The mother and father of the girls are Mr. and Mrs. John Chalmers, members of the Freewill Baptist Church of San ford. Also visiting was Mrs. Chalmers” sister, Mrs. Lillian Lanier. The collection was lifted by Mr. Johnny Mason and Deacon John Rayland. Rev. and Mrs. W. J. Wilson had dinner with Sister Roberta Holloway on Ransom St. The NAACP will meet at our church the third Sunday at 3p.m. Sunday services will be held ‘ on the fourth Sunday. * * * STUDY MODEL CITY TANSIT NEEDS The City of Dayton, Ohio has received a $40,477 grant from the U.
