GETS NEW POSITION-Joining United States Steel in 1964, James B. Henderson was recently promoted to the position of interviewer in the personnel department at the company’s Fairless Works Plant in Fair less Hill, Pa. The Philadelphia Museum College of Art graduate is shown talking to a prospective employee. In his job, Mr. Henderson considers and applicant’s personal, physical and scholastic qualifications to help determine where he might best be suited for einplojnnent within the plant. HENDERSON NEWS BY L. B. RUSSELL HENDERSON - Thanksgiv ing Day passed very quietly here in Henderson. The skies were clear for the most part of the day and late in the afternoon the clouds covered the skies. Ail public businesses were closed with the exception of a few stores operated by individuals. The U. 8, Post Office was closed and there were no rural deliveries. WEEKEND VISITORS Miss Elizabeth Smith was the weekend guest of her mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. Julie Smith of 1435 Nicholas Street. Miss Smith expressed herself as be ing very happy at being with her parents, brothers and sis ters. She will be leaving for Washington, D. C, where she is furthering her education. She is a graduate of Henderson In stitute, in the class of 1969. The writer was happy to have as his guests on Thanksgiving Day, his daughters, Harriett Russell Dixon, Elnora Russell Grice, his son-in-law, William Dixon, grandson, Roderick Grice, and his granddaughter, Samandra Dixon. Roderick is attending school at Palmer Me morial Institute, Sedalla. Sa mandra is not in school, but un der the guidance of her mother. Mrs. Dixon, who holds the master’s degree in guidance from Hampton Institute and a bachelor’s degree from Living stone College, Salisbury. Their visit with us was brief to our regret. They left Sunday for their work, as stenographer and secretary in a business cor poration in the city of New York and the public schools of Green ville. An honorary program was rendered last Sunday evening at the New Bethel Baptist Church in behalf of Mr. James T. Mar row. Mr. Marrow, a young man who grew up in this community Is honored, loved and respected by his comrades. Not only does he confine himself to his work of teaching in the public schools in the city of Henderson, but he is instrumental in working with the various churches in the community and conducting cho ruses, The Community Chorus and other choirs furnished the HAWAIIAN INN W.
