The meeting Is open to the public free of charge and will be held at 2402 Van Dyke Ave. at 8:00 P.m. Mrs. Patricia Hlllow, a graduate student in clinical psy chology, will conduct the dis cussion. Discussion will consider the basic human rights each person has and the problems created when these rights are denied to persons. "Miss St. Augustine’s College is Crowned ” with spectacular grandeur, and in the beautiful setting of the Student Union Building, “Miss Saint Augustine’s Col lege’’ was officially crowned, Saturday. November 22, at the Twelfth Annual Coronation ceremonies. Miss Carolyn La vern Fisher, a 21 year old senior, health and physical ed ucation major from Brooklyn, New York, received her crown from the outgoing queen, Miss Lorraine Green, a i 960 gradu ate from Manhattan, New York. Larry Brown, a junior from Greer, S. C., was master of ceremonies. In giving the official welcome, Preisenf Prezell R. Robinson said to “Miss St. Aug.”; The students have rightly bestowed this honor upon you. Y'ou fill eminently all other criteria so necessary for this coveted posi tion. Beauty is more than pig mentation. No longer do we ac cept standards of beauty impos ed upon us by others. We have set our own standards, and we are proud of them.*’ In her acceptance speech, Miss Fisher said, “I feel proud, excited and in love with all of you. You nave made a dream come true for any girl I must symbolize our heights of glory and loyalty. This world is in such an uncertain state-there seems to be peace nowhere. I pray that we may find peace in our school.” College attendants for Miss Saint Augustine’s College were Misses Chiquita Allen, Nancy Otey, Mary Merritt and Lydia. Following the coronation ceremonies presentations of gifts and talents were made by representatives: Clifford Low r ery the freshman class who sang “A Portrait of My Love,” a creative dance by Miss Es ther Bover, the sophomore class; a solo “Ebb Tide,”Miss Sharon Hall, the junior class; a solo, “Over the Rainbow,” Ronald Crudup, the senior class. James Burt, honor host sang “Climb Every Mountain” representing the faculty con tribution. A pr ayer of blessing was of fered by the Reverend Clyde chaplain of the college. *** According to the Depart ment's Bureau of Labor Statis tics, by 1975, men and women workers will have the same average educational attainment, of 12.4 years.
