page 11—THE NEWS—January 1980 Hardees With a Heart Monday morning, December 3 at 10:15 a.m. a clumsy squirrel committed “squirrelidde.” Unfortunate ly it did it by falling into the power transformer outside the JCC, thus plunging the building into darkness and cold on a particularly chilly winter morning. Even more unfortunately, all this happened just as Chai was gathering for its weekly meeting. What was needed was a source of warmth. Sara Schreibman called the Hardees on Randolph Road and ordered 27 cups of hot coffee. The manager answered her call, quoted her a price of 32T a cup and then asked her for whom the coffee was intended and why it was needed. Sara explain^ about the squirrel and the conversa tion went as follows: “The coffee is for Chai, our senior adult group”. “A senior group,” said the manager, “How old are the members?” Sara replied, “The average age is close to 80.” “Lady, we just donated 27 cups of hot coffee.” THANKS HARDEES FOR PROVING HOW NICE YOU ARE. B.B. LODGE The B’nai B’rith Lodge played its annual football game against an all star team from Mickey Aberman and Barak AZA on December 9. In a game that was hotly contested, the men managed to prevail on a touchdown scored on an in terception in the last two minutes of play. These semi-annual contests, pitting men against younger men, establish a basis for com munication between the spon soring lodge and the AZA chapters. The Lodge thanks chairman Shel Goldstein and the advisors who put the game together.
