Rabbi Schneerson deserved con

celebrated his 78th birthday on
March 29th.
There is a story told about his
early life that seems to be an
omen, almost a symbol, of
everything that was to follow.
When he was nine years old the
young Menachem Mendel
Schneerson dived into the black
sea to save the life of another
boy who had fallen from the
deck of a moored ship. That
sense of other lives in danger
seems to have dominated his
consciousness ' ever since: of
Jews drowning, and no one
hearing their cries for help.

war to implements of peace,
beginning by inner peace and
harmony of the individual as
well as living in peace and har
mony with one’s neighbors, the
sooner we will see the realiza
tion of the Prophetic vision; * Na

real and proper education can
this be achieved, G-d willing."
