Recently, two ticket books and a letter were mailed to all Jewish households in Charlotte seeking their support. This year, the two prizes that will be given are handmade from our own Jewish Community. Sylvia Sadoff, a member of the Chai Group, has made an heirloom afghan which will serve as one prize. The other prize is a choice of a framed serigraph, created by the prize winning artist Florence Jaffa. These serigraphs are presently on display in the conference room of the JCC where they will hang until September 6, the day of the draw ing. The monies raised from this raffle are used to offset the costs of Chai Group programs throughout the year. Tickets are $1.00 each or a book of 6 for $5.00 We hooe everyone will buy at least 2 books to help support the Chai Group. If you have misplaced your tickets, please fill out the coupon below and mail it in with your check. MaUorbrinfltotlM JCC > P.O. Box2201«. Chartotta. This year we were for tunate to be able to make use of the facilities of the Charlotte Rehabilitation Hospital. By using these facilities we were able to ex tend invitations to hospital patients as well as all those who were able to participate in the past. We would like to thank Billy Ashendorf for his diligent work in sending out the invitations. Joel Montezinos for his ' coor dinating effort with the hospital, and to Martin Travis and Murray Rosen for their musical entertain ment. A number of lodge members participated in this very heart warming project. July 25 saw the lodge spon soring an all day outing at Carowinds. The gates open ed to all families in the Jewish community at 10 a.m. They had the opportunity and freedom to explore the park at their leisure until 5:30 when all gathered in the picnic area for an all kosher B.B.Q. dinner. It was a most enjoyable day for all. President Elect Alan Hirsch has very graciously, offered the use of his pool and home for our cocktail party to be held on August 21. This will give the members a chance to relax and enjoy themselves in a very comfortable and con genial atmosphere. The festivities will begin at 8:00 p.m. until. Anyone in terested in learning more about the working of Charlotte Lodge and B’nai B’rith in general is cordially invited. We are very diligently working to get the lodge reinstated as participants at the annual Jerry Lewis Muscular Dystrophy Telethon. Last year we were not a part of this great out pouring of help for those with this terrible crippling disease, because of corporate participation. However, we are very confident that we will resume our seats at the local phones this year. Anyone who would like addi tional information on any of the above projects or anything that the lodge will be participating in later in the year is invited to call Allan Silber at 542-9935 or Larry Gerber at 597-0792.
