JCC Board Sets Pace
For Seeking Pledges
In a major step forward,
the Foundation Board at its
November meeting, voted to
proceed to the next step in
architectural design - the
development of the Phase I’
building and outside
facilities.
“The response to the cam
paign so far has been ex
tremely encouraging,’’ said
Herman Blumenthal, Presi
dent of the Foundation. “We
still have a great many peo
ple to see and pledges to be
made, but the Board felt it
was time to move ahead and
provide incentive for both
those who have given and
those who are not yet com
mitted.’’
William Gorelick, Chair

Foundation Vice President,
were emmpowered to discuss
and authorize architects to
develop and present draw

will include the education
and recreation facilities for
the participating institu

will prepare drawings of the
outdoor facilities needed for
the Project.
“April 17 is the date for
the groundbreaking,’’ said
Harry Swimmer, Campaign
Chairperson, “and, we ex
pect to meet that deadline
with a campaign total of the

In support of that state
ment, the Board of the
Jewish Community Center
acted at its November
meetings to review its entire
membership and to contact
all those members who have
not yet had an opportunity to
pledge to the Capital Cam
paign.
“We have watched how
hard Harry Swimmer and his
workers have worked to
bring the total up to $3.5
million,’’ said Bob Abel.
JCC President. “Many JCC
Board members have partici
pated as part of Harry’s
team, and we all have mad^'
