Blumenthal Hall, 8 p.m. BBW Charlotte Chapter Charlotte Chapter of B’nai B’rith Women will hold its Annual Gift Wrap Service at CotswoJd Mall and Service Merchandise on Independ ence Blvd. from December 10 to December 24. For informa tion, please call Terri Cathcart at 554-1081. We are volunteering to help prepare Arosa House for use by abused children and their parents. Donations are needed of furniture, carpet, paint, wallpaper, material for curtains, lumber for shelving and toys and clothing for children under 10 years of age. Please con tact Jane MacEntee at 332-6925 or Linda Binnick at 552-1435 regarding donations or volunteer information. Members of our chapter have been helping with telephone work, sample preparation and mailing of results for Hemoccult II, a testing program for colon- rectal cancer which is being sponsored by Presbyterian Hospital, Eckerd Drugs, WBTV and Smith-Kline Diagnostics. The program began November 15 and will continue in December; kits available at Eckerd Drugs. Our October meeting was a smashing success with Cheryl Spangenthal showing everyone how to massage feet for relief of other body aches. Such a good time was had by all that a mini-class on massage techniques will, hopefully be starting soon. “Parents — It’s Time to Talk” had to be postponed until January. Vicki Hopkins may be contacted at 554-1324 if you have ques tions. Sick Loan Chest is in need of hospital and sickroom equipment. If you have something to donate, pl^se call Helen Fligel at 366-8637. Loan requests may be made by calling 375-1885. The chapter is responsible for the Older Adult Lunch-, eon during the month of January. Preparations are underway but details are not yet available. To volunteer or for further information, call Linda Binnick at 552-1435. BBW HaLailah Ha Lailah*s r November general meeting was held on November 15 at the JCC. A French Cooking Workshop was held. Jewish Enrichment Tapes Ha Lailah in conjunction with the Charlotte Jewiish Federation has embarked on an exciting new project: Jewish Enrichment Tapes. The 7 tapes to be developed are on the major life cycles of the Jewish people. The front side of the tape will be in formative; the other side will contain songs and music related to that specific life cycle. The tapes are on Birth, Entering Pre-school, Consecration, Bar and Bat Mitzvah, Leaving Home, Marriage, and Death. These tapes will be given as gifts to members of the Jewish community. Raffle The chapter has kicked off its 6th annual fund raiser for a free membership to the JCC. Monies received from the raffle benefit the many service projects that B’nai B’rith Women supports. A book of 12 tickets is $10 or $1 per ticket. December Meeting The December Board- General meeting will be held December 13 at Brenda Manes’ home. All members and their guests are invited for a covered dish supper and celebrate Ha Lailah’,s 7th birthday. The raffle drawing will also be held. Chanukah For All Ages On December, 16 at 10:30 a.m. the chapter will sponsor a “Chanukah For All Ages” party for members of the Chai Group and Hebrew Academy Students. All those who at tended participated in a cooking class where they learned to make hors d’oeuvres. This was especially timely, for the coming holiday season and everyone enjoyed sampling what was made. Afterwards members were able' to pur chase at a discount many of the products and accessories sold at the store..; ■ The Open Meeting for December will involve part icipating in a holiday party to be held for children at a local community day care center. For more information about this program contact Dorothy Shapiro at 847-0371. Also this past-month the Chapter cosponsored a suc cessful community forum, “The Mid-East Crisiis: Then, Now,?” with the Charlotte Jewish Federation.
