Page 14-THE NEWS February, 1964 Charlotte B*nai B*rith Women Tape-A'Tale Feb. 14, Valentine’s Day, is the day Charlotte Chapter’s Tape presentaion will be made to Charlotte Memorial and Presbyterian Hospitals. Help is stiU needed to make tapes of stories, songs, poems, etc. for the children in these wards. Anyone wishing to assist in recording tapes should call Susan Coen at 366-9539. Cassette recorders and tapes will be provided. Amblyopia Screening Amblyopia, also known as “lazy eye,” is a weakness of the eye. If it is not treated, it can lead to blindness in the eye. Charlotte Chapter will be screening pre-school children for amblyopia. Volunteers are Women’s American ORT started the new year off with a bang. 'The January Open Meeting was held at Belk in SouthPark with a fantastic program on fashion ideas and grooming tips; wine and cheese were served. Special thanks go to Marci Mehlman, Program VP, for making the arrangements. The next Open Meeting will be held February 15 and will feature a program on education. For more infor mation on time and location of the meeting, contact Marci at 542-2096. The Special Project for February is our LOX BOX SALE. If you would like to needed to help in the screen ing. Arosa House On Saturday, Feb. 18, Charlotte Chapter will be tak ing the children at Arosa House to the Lollipop Concert Series at Ovens Auditorium. The theme of this concert will be Outer Space. Anyone wishing to bring the children, please call Linda Binnick at 552-1435. A new training session is about to begin: To work as a volunteer at Arosa House. Volunteers are needed to work one evening a week or on weekends. Arosa House is also in need of children’s clothing ORT help with driving and deliver ing the boxes on February 12, or would just like to place your personal order for a box or two. Call Roberta Malickson at 365-1417 or Sue Ett at 553-2637. Please encourage your friends and neighbors to order a box too, since this is one of our major fundraisers of the year. (See our ad elsewhere in this issue.) ORT welcomes Lauri Reich to our Executive Board. She is a former member of the Greensboro ORT and is our new Bulletin chairman. Color Me Beautiful Mark your calendars for our March 7 meeting which will feature Jo Pattishall, Color and Wardrobe Consultant. Ms. PattishaU will demon strate and explain how to find “your season” and what colors suit you best. This will be a salad bar luncheon at Temple Beth El at which time we will also be honoring new members. Our next special project is an ORT SABBATH scheduled for March 2 at Temple Israel. This is an annual event and a wonderful opportunity to pro mote ORT within our com munity.
