Page 9-THE NEWS-March, 1984 In and Around The JCC Board Member Of The Month As chairperson of the newly formed Senior Adult Commit tee and as longtime volunteer coordinator for the “J’s” Chair Group program, Ljoine has made an invaluable contribu tion to senior adult program ming at the Center. L3oine contributed greatly to the drafting of a new JCC Personnel Code, lending her considerable profession^ ex perience in this area. She is a member of the “J’s” active Membership Committee spearheading our outreach to newcomers. Lynne is married to Dr. Morey Sheffer and they have Lynn Sheffer a 2-year-old son David. We congratulate her on a job well done! Older Adult Luncheon The March Older Adult Luncheon will be held Wed., M£u-. 14 at 11:30 a.m. with Temple Israel Sisterhood as the host organization. All com munity senior adults are welcome at the lunch and music program at a cost of $1 per person. Transportation to Temple Israel will be provided for those needing it. You are ask ed to RSVP by Fri., Mar. 3 by calling the JCC at 336-0357. At this time please indicate if you will need transportation or if you can assist by pro viding a ride for someone else. The Swim Team is gearing up for the 1984 season. We need swinmiers who want to participate in the swim season from the beginning of June to mid-July. Children improve their swimming skills while having lots of fun. Our team is high on team spirit and participation. Team bathing suits are required and worn at every meet. Nominating Committee Appointed At its Feb. 13 Board Meeting, The Jewish Com munity Center Board of Direc tors appointed its Nominating Committee. Those serving are: Bob Abel, Chairman, Mike Van Glish, Lynne Sheffer, Florence Jaffa, Claire Putter- man, Marshall Rosenfeld and Gil Portnoy. Family Shabbat Dinner Planned The Jewish Community Center will sponsor a Family Shabbat Dinner at Temple Israel on Mar. 9 at 6:00 p.m. Featured will be traditional foods, festive music and discussion on ways to make the end of each week some thing to look forward to. The JCC is anticipating a lovely first family Shabbat and hopes this will begin a beautiful tradition. Bring your family for food and feUowship and then go to services at the synagogue of your choice. Temple Israel will be holding its early Children’s Service at 7:30 p.m. Temple Beth El’s service begins at 8:00 p.m. Dinner will be $5 per adult and $2 per child.
