Federation Makes Great Strides JCC S'wriiii & Tennis Teams Honored proach, quite a few of our own board members took active roles in the JCC, the Hebrew Academy, the Blumenthal Home, etc. As a result, a cohesiveness and a bond has developed and we think this will have lasting positive af fects for the general community. • Board Involvement — I am proud to inform you that not only do we have a large board, but a very active involved board. The majority of Federa tion Board Members are com mitted, enthusiastic and give of themselves. One of my primary goals has been to maintain a highly spirited ac tivity level among our board members. It has happened and the fruits of their labor are already being felt throughout. • Leadership Development — One of my primary concerns has been the need for leader ship development and training not only within our own Federation organization but throughout the Jewish com munity. There has not been a continuous organized presence to foster leadership for our various organizations. We have now put into motion a lanar? f tiAtPy NE>V yCAR strong, active committee which is developing a leader ship training program for the entire community. Whatever organization you belong to will probably benefit from this volunteer effort. • Improved relations within our own Federation Board — This should be the goal of any president, of course. Improv ing relations is not an easy task because of mutued dif ferences in philosophies and personalities, but because of our common goals, I feel we have attained a successful level of communication and ac complishment. 1 must say we have a strong board and no one could ask for a stonger or a more supportive executive committee. The coining months promise to be challenging and exciting. Our general campaign st£u*ts soon and we do need to raise $1,000,000 this year. The Men’s major gifts “fly-in", Superior Sunday, and Major Gifts dinner coupled with the wide range of Women’s Divi sion events and the joint Super Sunday are before us. This year we plan that each of these events will surpass the previous year. Other conunit- tees such as Social Services, Community Relations, Alloca tions, Missions, Project Renewal, Cash Collections, Jewish Education, etc. work at all times throughout the year. My job has been made easier not only because of a strong board but because of an excep tionally strong executive com mittee. I want to recognize our vice-presidents, Ron Katz, Ruth Goldberg, Bobbi Berns tein; secretary, John Pransky; treasurer, Allan Oxman; ex presidents, Richard Klein and Harry Lerner; allocations chairman, Don Bernstein; and (Continued from Page 1) Executive Director, Marvin Bienstock. These people con tinue to lend strong and able support and direction. As President, I invite your comments. We serve as an um- breUa organization for you and the community. The Charlotte Jewish Federation is suc cessful, yet there is much more this organization can and should do for the Charlotte Jewish Community. I invite yoy to call me diu*ing the day at 376-7434 or write to me at P.O. Box 6264, Charlotte, NC 28207.
