Yes No Chanukah was a time of joyous celebration for the Chai Group. The members were treated to a delicious deli lunch, with the all time favorite being what else but corned beef on rye. Members Belle Somerstein, Tobye Hirsh, Alice Miller and Rose Jaffe delighted everyone’s tastebuds with mouth water ing desserts. What a nice way to celebrate the holidays. The group has an exciting Monday schedule planned. Some of the topics to be covered are nutrition, exercise, couponing, plant care, current events, religion and the arts. Highlights for the group in clude an evening at the Charlotte Little Theatre, the dress rehearsal of the opera “Samson & Delilah,” and the always popular Senior Adult Luncheon. Meet on Sunday, Februjiry 24, 2:30-5 p.m., to mingle with Jewish youth and learn about trips to Israel at the JCC’s Israel Trip Fsiir. Youth groups from area temples and representatives from nationeil organizations will be at the JCC for the after noon. They will present their organizations’ educational packages and sponsored-trips available for teenagers think ing about visiting Israel. In addition to speakers and audio-visuals, the JCC will provide Israeli snacks and music. This will be an infor mative and fun afternoon. Please Pay Your JCC Dues Sports Corner Soccer Soon We’re pleuining now for the Spring Soccer season. Our coed teams of ages 6-8, 9-11, 12-14 will be playing in the Harris YMCA League. We are also looking for volunteer coaches and parents to help with our players. The fees and dates are yet to be decided. Call the JCC today to sign up your youngster or offer your help at 366-0357. Men’s Basketball Pick-up games of men’s basketball are played every Sun day morning from 9 a.m.-noon at A.G. Junior High School gymnasium. Play indoors every weekend through March 15 for $20 (members). Tennis, Anyone?!? The JCC has 4 adult tennis teams that will participate in the Queen City Tennis League again in the Spring. We are always looking for players who enjoy recreational tennis with a competitive edge. We can use you as a regular or as a substitute player. Interested?
