Page 10-THE NEWS April, 1986 CB*s Handle By Cary Bernstein Director of Youth Services There are only two and a half months left until summer day camp begins and the camp committee and I are busily putting together all of the plans to make this the best summer ever for Camp Mac- cabee. We are all very excited about being on the site of the new facility. With the con struction of our own camp pavilion we will be all set to go on June 23 when the first ses sion is scheduled to begin. One of the factors that makes our summer program so unique is our dedication to hiring the finest quality counselors and specialists in the city. I am assembling an excellent team of workers who are prepared to make sure that your camper has an exciting and enriching camp experience. In addition to our regular staff, I have hired the follow ing specialists: Millie Camp bell, the JOG aquatics director, will be supervising our camp water front program. Millie formerly was assistant aqua tics director at the Harris YMCA and has instructed swimming for many years in the Charlotte area. Our camp sports specialist is Pauline Tulson. Pauline has worked for the JCC in past summers and brings to us her extensive knowledge of sports and fit ness programs for children. In addition to being an excellent tennis instructor, Pauline has worked in several of our Char lotte area schools both design ing and implementing athletic programs for children. David Heustess will return for his se cond summer as the camp creative movement and dance instructor. David, who is cur rently studying demce at Cen tral Piedmont Community College, has been teaching creative movement classes at the JCC for preschoolers and we are looking forward to con tinuing to work with him throughout the summer. I am still interviewing candidates for both drama and nature crafts. Class Update I am putting together a series of workshops and samplers, scheduled to begin when the new facility opens. We plan to have a limited number of programs for children for the building open ing and a full slate of classes to be offered in the fall. College Students I am still in the process of collecting names for a mailing list of college students. If you are in college (or are the parents of coUege students) please send me your home and college address. Your JCC Dues Stilus Scoreboard By Stu Epstein, Director of Health & P.E.
