Worker Appreciation Brunch Held
Page 9-THE NEWS-April, 1986
“This year, for the first
time. Women’s Division of the
Charlotte Jewish Federation
raised over $105,000 in its
1986 Federation/UJA cam
paign. This figure reflects a 45
percent increase over last
year’s totals. These gifts came
from a record 600 contributors
and-include 117 new gifts to
the campaign. Almost half of
all women contributing to the
1986 campaign increased their
gift from the previous year,”
stated Emily Zimmern, cam
paign cochairwoman, in her
“state of the campaign” ad
dress to workers at a recent
brunch held at the home of
Bobbi Bernstein, Women’s
Division President. This party
was held to honor all those
workers who helped make the
1986 campaign so successful.
It was hostessed by Ruth
Goldberg, Vicki Hopkins,
Emily Zimmern and Bobbi
Bernstein.
Those who received special
thanks were the campaign
captains, campaign solicitors,
“Super Sunday” workers,
members of Shalom Y’all, the
education committee and all
others who were a part of
campaign-related events.
Vicki Hopkins, campaign
cochairwoman, gave special
awards to Regina Herzog and
Gloria Hunter for their in
valuable help “at the office.”
A gift was presented to Ruth
Goldberg in recognition of her
outstanding ability as a
solicitor and her unmatched
dedication to the work of
Women's Division.

formal presentation of the
“Lion of Judah” pins.
The “Lion of Judah” pro
gram began in Miami, Fla. in
1972 by the Women’s Division
of that community and was so
successful that by 1981 it had
“gone national.” The pin, in
the shape of a golden Uon, is
a proud symbol of the
strength in Jewish life. It was
created to serve as a symbol of
commitment for a woman
whose personal pledge to the
annual campaign is $5000 or
more. Charlotte has proudly
joined the list of 83 other com
munities involved in this
outstanding program.
