Dr. Jay Jacoby of UNCC's Literature Depart ment has been meeting with the group for several weeks as they begin to reminisce and remember some very special moments in their lives. In preparing the group to write a portion of their memories. Dr. Jacoby has led them through some unique activities to stimulate images of their childhood and young adult years. The seniors drew floor plans of their childhood home, or a map of their old neighbor hood. and then shared stories with one another about those times and places. They then wrote a group poem entitled “I Remember”. The project will culminate in the preparation of “Special Memory”, written by the Chai-Lites to be presented as a “living legacy” to their families. May programs will include a visit from Rabbi Robert Seigel and The Yiddish Vinkl. Call the “J” for more information.
