*^Moshiach Tzeiten** (In the Time o£ the Messiah)
By Marvin Bienstock
It is said by the Rabbis that
when the world has been
perfected by all of its in
habitants, God will send his
messenger, the Moshiach, who
will place a stamp of approval
on the world and it will remain
in that state of perfection
forever.
Perhaps you are asking
yourself, “How can we know
what a perfect world should be
like?”
To come as close as you will
ever come to finding the
answer, may I humbly suggest
that you register for the 1988
YIDDISH INSTITUTE AT
WILDACRES.
Imagine 100 men and
women, Jews from all across
the United States, spending
four days together without a
murmur of complaint about
ANYTHING. Imagine the
best of accommodations and
seemingly bottomless platters
and bowls of fine cuisine in
terspersed with banquet
tables of baked goods and
mountains of halavah.
Imagine all this on a moun
tain top blessed with idylic
weather, limitless views and a
blue sky so close you can reach
up and pick a star for a
souvenir.
And, most wonderful of all,
imagine those 100 people to be
the kinds of warm, caring
friends with whom you used to
share your summers at a very
special camp. Or, perhaps they
are the relatives who used to
gather together weekends to
celebrate simchas and who
made up your extended
family.
In either case, they have the
same dedication to their
Jewishness that you do. They
wear their Yiddishkeit like a

silken cape richly embroidered
with knowledge and memories.
Now that you have an ink
ling of the setting and the per
sonalities which contribute to
perfection, you may wonder
how people spend their time.
Of course they chat and
smile, hug a lot, and compare
notes on how things have been
going. But they really can’t
wait to sing and dance and
pray and study and learn
together.
