New programs this summer include a Camp for the Gifted Child, a NEW and revamped Sports Camp including high school coaches, college players and as part of our Teen Safari Camp, a two week extended trip program to the Pennsylvania Dutch Country and special points of interest along the way. Also new this summer are the camp session dates. The camp program will run 8 weeks, a 2-week session and two 3-week sessions. Camp Dates Session #1: June 19-June 30 Session #2: July 3-July 21 Session #3: July 24-August 11 JCC Camp Reunion and Early Bird Registration Day The Jewish Community Center will be having a very exciting Camp Reunion party and Early Bird Registra tion Day on Sunday, March 5 at Shalom Park, 2-3:30 p.m. All day campers of Summer ’88 are cordially invited to the reunion to meet again with their camp friends and counselors and share in the festivities. The activities for the day include a Summer Camp ’88 slide show, camp gi'oup activities, refreshments and discussion of the ’89 camp season. Parents, this will also be a great opportunity to sign the kids up for Summer Camp 1989 and get in on the Early Bird discount. Counselor Training Program Do you like children? Do you enjoy working in the outdoors? Have you ever thought of working in a day camp? If you said yes to these questions and are currently in 10th or 11th grade, the Counselor Training Program is available for you. This 8-week training course offered by the ‘ J’ will have a presentation by a community expert each week. The presentation will include open discussion, role pla^ng and actual work experience. Each partic ipant will also have the opportunity to develop a game and song file. All participants are required to attend each CTP session. The cost is $15/M and $25/NM. Participation does not guarantee a position as a Counselor in a JCC camp, though it can certainly be helpful in preparing for such a position. The Counselor Training Program will be in late March. Be a Camp Counselor at the Are you beginning to think about what you’ll be doing this summer? Perhaps the JCC has the answer for you. If you love the outdoors and enjoy being around young children, why not be a counselor this summer in one of the JCC’s Summer Camp programs. We are currently interviewing to fill positions in all of the seven camp pro^ams. Positions include junior counselors, senior counselors and camp specialists. Camp specialists include arts & crafts, camping & nature, Judaica, science, dramatics/ creative movement. Together, this mix of young people helps produce the fine quality program that has exist^ in Charlotte the last several years. Our summer camp programs are quality programs and we’re looking for quality people who believe they can provide expert leadership, guidance and friendship. If you want the opportunity to assist youngsters in their continued development in areas of skill acquisition and social/personal growth, we have that opportunity. If you have a genuine love for children and want to ^ part of a very satisfying experience, the “J” has that experience.
