Wendy Rosen and Maddie
Joffe are not new names to
our community — you have
read of their participation in
community activities fre
quently. Wendy, a native
Charlottean, has spent a
lifetime in dedicated service.
Maddie moved to Charlotte
in January 1984 and imme
diately became involved.
Wendy has devoted many
volunteer hours to Federa
tion beginning in 1982 as a
Super Sunday participant,
later as a cochair and this
year serves as the chair. She
has been active as an Allo
cations Evaluator and on
the Teen Israel Scholarship
Committee. As a participant
of the first Leadership Devel
opment Group, she attended
the Leadership Conference
in Washington, D.C. in
March 1988. Wendy’s activ
ities include ten years as
BBYO advisor — that’s how
she met her husband Frank;
he also was an advisor. Tem
ple Israel has been an impor
tant part of her life: you
might recognize her name as
a Preschool teacher or with
her involvement with Sister
hood. She has also been
active in Hadassah and at
the ‘J’.
As 1985-86 President of
HaLailah Chapter of B’nai
B’rith Women and 1987-88
Wendy Rosen
Maddie Joffe
Co-President, Wendy has
given many hours to her
chapter and to special pro
jects. She was appointed to
the steering committee for
Uptown Charlotte’s Great
Pumpkin Festival for the
past two years.
Wendy and Frank have
one son. Josh, 9.
Maddie served as 1986-87
President of HaLailah
Chapter BBW. She was also
Co-President with Wendy
the following year. For two
years, she has been a part
of the steering committee for
the Great Pumpkin Festival.
Maddie participates ac
tively in Temple Beth El
V’Shalom’s Sisterhood, hav
ing served as recording
secretary and later as V.P.
of Programming. She has
been involved on special
committees for the JCC and
on the board of B’nai B’rith
Youth Parents. Maddie can
be found daily at Shalom
Park, employed as a teacher
with Temple Israel Pre
school.
This is Maddie’s first year
on Women’s Cabinet. How
ever, her involvement with
Federation has been contin
uous since 1984. Super Sun
day planning and participa
tion is part of her interest
area. She was a participant
in the first Leadership
Development Group and
also attended the Confer
ence in Washington, D.C.,
March 1988. Maddie is a
Board member of Federation
and is chairing the March
1989 Mission to Israel with
husband Phil. They have
two sons, Todd, 16 and
Ryan, 12.
Maddie Joffe and Wendy
Rosen are to be commended
on their involvements and
accomplishments in our
community and are truly
outstanding volunteers.
