Page 7-THE NEWS«-November1089 Shalom Y’all Greets Newcomers By Jody Pinion A much awaited Shalom Y’all party brought newcomers and committee members together on Tuesday night, September 19 for wine, cheese and fruit. This reporter sharpened her pencil and enjoyed speaking to the twelve new members in attendance. Andrew and Ellen Wysmuller moved to Charlotte at the end of March from New Jersey. Andrew, not in attendance, came with Royal Insurance. Ellen is presently working at home. They have moved eight times in eleven years and like Charlotte so much, they hope they can stay. They have two children: Steven, 13 and Jennif er, 9. Mike and Toby Schatz moved to Charlotte from Massachu setts. Mike came soon after Thanksgiving last year; Toby joined him last May with James, 13 and Andrew, 11. Their move was a choice move for them. They were impressed with the friendship, cleanliness and greenery of Charlotte. Mike is an engineer. Toby is looking for a job in office management. Ed and Helene Ziegler also moved to Charlotte nine months ago from Massachusetts of their own choice. They visited our city for twenty-four hours and “fell in love.” The Zieglers have a desk top publishing business, “Image in Print.”They have two grown children, one in Balti more and one in Palm Bay, Florida. Phyllis Berlin has been in Charlotte two months. Original ly from Detroit, she had lived in Atlanta and missed the south. She moved to Charlotte without a job, but soon found one as a manufacturer’s representative for a heating and air condition ing company. She is single. Anita Neuberger moved to Charlotte from New York via Pennsylvania where she was attending graduate school. Here just one month, she teaches Criminal Justice at UNCC. She enjoys dinner, movies and travel. She, too, is single. Murray and Linda Simon moved here August 21 from Connecticut. Linda was origi nally from Virginia and wanted to return to the south. Murray works as an independent consul tant for Health Care Marketing Research. They have three adult children, one in New Jersey, one in Texas, and Daniel, 19 years, who is living at home and attends CPCC. Paul and Mirium Burg have been in Charlotte just four weeks from New York City. He moved with Crown Home Furnishings (CHF). Mirium has found it somewhat of an adjustment being away from New York, but says that Charlotte is “pretty” and feels they have been made to feel welcome. The Burgs have a daughter in Florida and a son in San Francisco so they feel like they are spread across the United States. Alan and Denise Sussman have been here three months from Woodmere, Long Island, New York. Alan is a controller with Melville Knitwear. Denise, not in attendance, has been working in the home. They have two children: Mark, 5 and Beth, 2. Alan likes to play Lacrosse and basketball. Although she is not used to having to get in the car to go everywhere, Denise has found Charlotte to be a nice place. The following organizations sent representatives to the party to talk briefly about their orga nization and entertain questions from newcomers: Jodi Mond, City Director of BBYO and Director of Teen Services, JCC; Lauren Stark, BBYO Advisor; Audrey Madans, Hadassah and N.C.
