Mickcy Barak Aberman AZA By Jason Ett Mickey Barak Aberman, the Aleph Zadick Aleph chapter of Charlotte BBYO, has recently gone through some changes. In late December we attended Regional convention in Durham at the Sheraton University Cen ter. Everyone who attended really enjoyed themselves. More recently, on January 7, we held our mid-year elections. Because of a motion made at the begin ning of the BBYO year, we, Mickey Barak Aberman, now hold six-month elections. Con gratulations to the new board: Godol (president), Rael Gorel- ick: S’gan (vice president of programming), Scott Cohen; Moreh (membership), Jon Si- Chai Chaverim BBG By Sara Schlosberg The Sweetheart/Beau Dance was very successful. Many peo ple from all over North Carol ina, Virginia, Florida and Geor gia came. It was a fun experi ence. The musical group. Urban Edge, played and did a terrific job. The new 1990 sweetheart is Kara Silverstein. The new 1990 beau is Jason Ett. On February 28 there was a chapter meeting about upcom ing elections. In early March there will be Chai Chaverim elections. This is very important so come all BBGs. There must be 37 members present. On March 11,5-7 p.m. there will be MIT installations. Parents are also invited. Refreshments will be served. We welcome aboard our newest advisor, Jered Mond. congrat ulations to Lauren and Philip Stark on the birth of their new ba by girl. Meryl weighed 7 lbs. 3 oz. and is doing fantastic and so are the new proud parents. The chapter has 54 members including their newest “little mascot,” Meryl Stark. Lauren and Philip Stark have been the Charlotte BBG and AZA advisors for the past year. Operation Safe Prom Wednesday, March 28 7:(X) p.m.-9:00 p.m. Shalom Park $1 Members $2 Non-Members As the prom season approaches, there are many respon sibilities that our teens must undertake. The JCC is sponsoring a program, OPERATION SAFE PROM, that will be conducted by professionals from Safe Drive. This program is not only for those who drive but for those who are passengers of the driver. Operation Safe Prom is one of nine national awards that was presented from the National Commission Against Drunk Driving. Whether you will be involved in the teen travel camp or not, why not come out and spend your evenings under the stars with the JCC. Teens will spend nine evenings out for a three- week session. TNT will be offered the first session of teen travel camp. Well spend the evenings going to plays, out to dinner, sporting events and much more. Be sure to pick up your camp brochure at the front office of the JCC if you haven’t received it in the mail.
