Page 13-THE NEWS-Febniary 1991 Charlotte Je«wish Preschool News By Marcia Stem How do you take a wet, dreary day in January and turn it into a day filled with learning and fun? Just ask any one of the wonderful teachers at the Char lotte Jewish Preschool. The cold weather gives the classes the opportunity to see, taste and explore the world around them using their senses, performing experiments and creating pro jects. Children learn so much by “doing.” Our children are given the opportunity to create and explore in a loving environment. All of our classes enjoyed learning about Tu B’Shevat. Each class participated in age appropriate activities such as seed planting, forest mural, and creating “family trees” and “toothpick T’s.” The fours held their own Tu B'Shevat Seder where they were able to say “thank you” for all the things that come from trees and sample many of the foods that grow in Israel. Our Pre-K children can read the thermometer and have been keeping a daily record of tem perature readings each morning. The JCC Chai group enjoyed a lovely Tu B*Shevat seder with the children of this class. It really makes your heart burst when you hear your three- year-old who has learned Jewish songs at school and then sing Play doofh b a fivoritc with o«r prcachoolciB. As a “seasoned” parent I can say without hesitation that I know when my children leave the Charlotte Jewish Preschool they will have had the best preparation for their future schooling. The preschool has an environment which is positive. nurturing and challenging in a setting which allows them to be chiMren.
