When camp is over and the fall season begins, and weVe just closed the outdoor pool. Yes, the fall season is beginning and the kids come around and the adults even join in the play. You know that it’s time to put on your sneakers and join in the fun at the “J.” With Jeff Passe in the basketball league or Joanne Bigel on the courts, there is always something fun here to do. Such as Jackie Miron s stretch class or softball with Lee Katz or fitness tips Andrea Jones recommends for you. Our indoor pool is active with aerobics and swim classes and David Levine thinks Miss Millie is neat. And our fitness room is hopping with Marvin & Anita Shapiro and our Health Clubs you just cannot beat. Gifted & Talented Offers New Course Calling all “Broadway Babies” Jillian Goldberg, director of the Gifted and Talented Devel opment Center, is pleased to announce a new program at the Jewish Community Center, commencing this Fall. “A Child’s Garden of Songs” is a semester long program of chil dren’s music, offered in response to the popularity of GTDC summer camp “Broadway Ba bies” course. Instructor Deborah Brown, recently from Canada, has joined the GTDC as a full time administrator and curriculum specialist. Brown’s many ac complishments include graduate work and extensive teaching experience in Fine Arts, certifi cation from the Royal Conser vatory of Music in Toronto, and years of experience in piano instruction and accompaniment. The music program will focus on traditional children’s songs from England and America, combining melodies and lyrics with simple gestures and props. The aim of the classes is to introduce our busy, modern children to some of the wonder ful, timeless tunes from the days of Music Hall and vaudeville stage as well as Tin Pan Alley, Broadway and Disneyland. Classes will be limited to 15 children and early registration is recommended to avoid disap pointment as children are turned away from the similar program offered each summer.
