Said Mark Resnik, MBA Godol (President), "I was very happy with the attendance. There were a lot of new faces. I look forward to getting even more people interested in join- ing. We have so many MIT's Chapter brothers Jesse Lieberman, Andrew Lyons, Mark Resnick, and Jesse Lepow take a minute to pose Being a Vegetarian in the Eyes of a Jew by Lauren Monosoff and Melissa Gottheim Have you ever thought about where most of your meals come from? Many people have pondered the brutality to ani mals that goes into putting meat on their plates. The idea of ani mals being murdered so they could be cooked in a hot oven, then served on one's plate has become too gruesome for people to deal with. This is not the only reason people become vegetarians. In Genesis 1:29, God tells us that he has "given you every herb yielding seed, which is upon the face of all the earth and every tree, in which is the truit of a tree yielding seed. To you it shall be food." Did you know there is a re ligious custom recognized to day that deals with the cruelty of animals? One is not allowed to wear leather shoes on Yom Kippur. It makes sense because it seems foolish to repent for your sins while wearing items that were made from a slaugh tered animal. I know vegetar ians who are strongly against cruelty to animals, wear articles of clothing that are made from animals. I think if one is that much against killing animals for food, they would be twice as much against killing animals for clothing. Many rabbis believe that human-kind will once again re frain from killing animals for food when the Messiah comes. It is interesting that they relate vegetarianism with peaceful times. K Everyone Agrees - Gump is Great! by Melissa Gottheim and Lauren Monosoff "Life is like a box of choco lates; you never know just what you're gonna get." ^und fa miliar? This voice of reason comes from the box office hit "Forrest Gump". This and many other interesting philoso phies are shared with the view ers by the main character, Forrest Gump, also know as the famous actor, Tom Hanks. This movie will bring you from a state of hysterical laughter to a state of hysterical tears in a matter of minutes. It deals with many serious issues in life such as drugs, abuse, war, handicaps and love. You live the life of Forrest Gump, a mentally dis abled man, who did nnany things that most of us would never imagine accomplishing. It reminds us that anything is possible if we believe in our selves and ignore those that have not an ounce of faith in us. All our fingers and goes are up for this movie! If you haven't seen it yet, we strongly recom mend that you go and see it now! Mellisa Gottheim summer in Starlight, Pennsylva nia at two BBYO summer pro grams; Kallah and ILTC. She is eagerly looking forward to the upcoming year on the Teen Edi torial Board. BBYO’ers have fun at the Annual BBYO Intake Pool Party. BBG advisor Michelle Bamford summed it up well: "BBG can expect another fantas tic year of programs and sister hood events led by the inspired new executive board!" Some BBYO'ers came to in take with a new perspective. Junior Jill Freiberg was Chai Chaverim Mazkir (correspond ing secretary) last year.
