% Th0 N9Wi - M§reh, 1995’Pag* 11 March At Temple Israel By Lisa Taub The famous annual People Power Weekend, presented by Temple Israel, Temple Beth El, and the Blumenthal Foun dation, will occur March 10-12 this year. The featured speaker is Rabbi David Wolpe of the University of Judaism. Rabbi Wolpe will speak at Temple Israel services Saturday morning, and again at an informal talk and Havdallah service begin ning at 4:00*PM. Other events planned include Friday evening services and a Sunday morning brunch at Temple Beth El. Temple Israelites will greet the arrival of Purim with a variety of festivities. On March 8, Sisterhood will host a luncheon at 11:00 a.m. In the spirit of giving at Purim time, guests are asked to bring bas kets, kosher candy and cookies, and dried fruit, and to be prepared for singing and making Mishloach Manot baskets to give away. Hamentashen for the baskets will be supplied. The cost of the Sister hood luncheon is $5.00 for Sister hood members and $7.00 for guests. Purim at Temple Israel will feature fantastic prizes for adults and a sweet surprise for children. The slate of events on March 15 includes dinner at 5:30, Ma’ariv at 6:30, dual Megillah readings at 6:45, a children’s costume contest at 7:45, an adults’ costume contest at 8:00, and a dessert party with surprises for the children at 8:15. On March 16, a Megillah read ing and service will be held at 7:30, followed by breakfast at 9:00. In other Temple news, a kin dergarten Shabbat dinner and ser vice will take place on March 3, and a Dalet class Shabbat dinner and service will take place on March 17. Both programs begin at 6:00 PM. Junior Kadima and USY will both hold special programs on March 12, and Kadima will have a program on March 19. Contact Robert Gleiberman (362-2796) for details. This month’s “Celebrating Life” program and luncheon will be held at 10:30 on March 16. Call the Temple office (362-2796) for details. Fmally, the Jewish Books Dis cussion Group will meet on March 27th at 7:00 PM. The group is open to all members of the Jewish com munity. Interfaith Conference To Be Held By Claire Krusch TKe Third Annual Inter faith Conference on Aging will be held on Monday, March 20, 1995 at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church on Providence Road. Rabbi James Bennett of Temple Bedi El, will conduct a work shop titled “Spirituality and Aging.” Other workshops that will be presented in clude: Faith Stories, Grieving and Renewal, and Design and Management of Senior Adult Programs. An “Idea Affair” will be available where 13 local con gregation programs will be showcased. Temple Beth El will be one of the congrega tions represented.
