Trip to Israel
“What is an
Israel?” Young chil
dren often ask this
question when they
hear adults and Rab
bis talk about the
Jewish land of milk
and honey. Students
at the Charlotte Jewish Preschool
have a much clearer perception of
what Israel is after their exciting,
imaginary flight to Israel and tour
of Israel. After preparing tickets,
passports and shekels, each student
packed their bags and boarded El
A1 Flight #503 to Tel Aviv. Pass
ports were stamped as we passed
through customs and then each tour
group departed for different cities.
In Jerusjdem, the children visited
the Wailing Wall, whm they wrote
down their prayers or wislies and
placed them in the wall. The stu
dents then visited the Israel Mu
seum, where they saw a rich
assortment of artifacts.
The tour continued to Eilat
where the students heard the story
And Shira Imagined. Haifa was
everyone’s favorite with live Is
raeli folk music and dancing ga
lore. Just outside Haifa, students
Sarah Greenfield and Julian
GenMns en}oy Yam Ha'atzmaut

visited an archeological dig site,
where they each were able to dig
and procure their very own souve
nir. The tourists finally arrived at
Tel Aviv Cafe, where the weary
travelers ate Jaffa oranges, carob
covered raisins, and milk & honey
balls. Before departing Israel,
each student had a chance to buy
handmade Israeli art with their
shekels at the shuks in Jerusalem.
The students arrived back to the
Preschool happy, exhausted and
anxiously awaiting a real trip to
Israel.
Our next adventure was a
family Lag B’Omer picnic. Ev
ery preschool family was invited
to join us for an evening of relax
ation, food, organized races and
games and finally a story.
