Page 20 • The Charlotte Jewiah Newa • September, 1995 ^ j3 The Jewish Community Center j/ Health & Recreation Senior Adults Singles JCC HEALTH AND RECREATION PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS The JCC Health and Recre ation Department offers a wide va riety of quality programs for your children. Check out these selections. YOUTH HOOPSTERS PRE SEASON It won’t be long before the soc cer season is over and we will be moving indoors for Basketball. This program is a warm up for the Youth Hoopsters season and it will stress the fundamentals of basketball. Skill sessions will be followed by scrimmages and some “knockout”- the perfect mix of learning and fun. This pre-season program be gins on Sunday September 10 TENNIS PROGRAMS The fall is the perfect time of year to be on the courts. Tennis pro Robert Stephens will share his ex perience and love for the game with your child. Youth tennis lessons meet on Wednesdays and Session II begins October 18. Class maximum is 8 students so register early. If our scheduled class does not meet your needs, we offer private lessons. Call the JCC to schedule a day and time. AQUATICS We offer a class for the child who knows how to swim freestyle and backstroke and wishes to learn more about competitive swimming. The Competitive Swim Program is a good preparation for the Winter Swim Team which will begin in January. Program begins Sunday Sep tember 10. Also available for children of all ages are private swim lessons. In some cases the one on one atten tion is just what a child needs to overcome his/her fear of the water. All instructors are certified through the American Red Cross and pro vide a loving and caring environ ment for your child to feel good about swimming. The Newcomers Connection Is fast becoming one of the hottest groups in Charlotte. Charlotteans, both new to town and old timers, have been joining us for our monthly social events. “Apples and Honey” is the theme in September, as we welcome in the New Year with a New Years party on September 30. Also, offered will be hot tips for new Charlotteans! Mark your calendars for October 21, for our annual Gym Night. The gym and other facilities will be available to everyone for an evening of fun, games and sports.
