While setting the meetings for the entire year, I had asked to change a September meeting that fell on Rosh Hashanah. I was stunned to hear the comments from some of my fellow Commissioners. One Commissioner said that I should choose either to attend the meeting or miss it com pletely. Even though the issue this year was the same, a new Commis sion was to make the decision. At our calendaring session, the meet ing date scheduled for Kol Nidre was readily changed. I explained that the Commission should not meet bn Tuesday and Wednesday because of the holiday. Without fanfare, the meeting was changed to the day af ter Yom Kippur. The fact that Commission ers are becoming attuned to the im portance of Jewish holidays is a big Noted Talk Show Host Barry Farber To Be Guest Speaker At Blumenthal 30th Anniversary Dinner • Glorious European 1st Quality Fabrics • Well-Known Designer Brands • 70-90% Below Original Price 2000 South 3ou\evard Interiors Market Place Charlotte, NC 23203 704/377-0008 step toward the world class city that we believe Charlotte to be. There should also be no tests given by any teachers, and if this occurs, please call me. I will bring this to the at tention of the appropriate school officials.
