The children, dressed as a professional choir in black and white, presented a sparkling and professional perfor mance of beautiful Jewish music. Rave reviews were given to both Cantor Sheppard, who responded to requests with a few lovely solos, and to the students who have been sing ing in the choir for just a short time. After the program the charming stu dents greeted each of the residents with hugs and handshakes as they received praise for their singing. “It’s hard work” was the response of one proud student to the compli ments. Thanks to the hard work of Cantor Sheppard and her talented students and to the parents who brought them to visit BJH, the resi dents reaped the benefits of a beau tiful performance. Teenagers from Charlotte, Greenville and Asheville met at BJH on this same day for a USY Social Action Day. The youth vis ited and talked with residents throughout the Home, participated in a sing-along and assisted the ac tivity therapists in preparing for a program. The residents delight in visits from young people; they en joy learning about the lives of the teenagers and sharing a little about themselves and their history with the youth. Participating in a “ So- cial Action Day” at BJH can be great fun and a meaningful way to practice tzedakah. owner > I can help.
