In 1995, 2.5 million tourists visited Israel. The web site is located at http://www.infotour.co.il. A new CD-ROM product has been announced by Vista InterMedia Corporation. Re membering for the Future II is the first compendium of Holocaust and Genocide infor mation. Based on the conference in Berlin in 1994, it contains full texts of materials from experts, general background, as well as research material for use in schools or libraries. Jewish Outreach Institute director Egon Mayer hosted Internet chats with, about and for interfaith married couples in April and May. It was organized by an AOL (American On Line) affiliate known as Tbe On-Line Jewish Community, operated by the Northern California Jewish Bulletin. JOI has a web site at http://wwwuser.gc.cuny.edu/cjs /joi.htm. Kehilla.com was named the exclusive Internet content devel oper and web site designer for the Rabbinical Council of America (RCA) in June. “By working in partnership with Kehilla.com we will bring our member syna gogues into the 21st century,” explained Rabbi Rafael Gross man, president of the RCA. Jewish communities around the world can share access and there will be “greater international kehilla.” Kehilla is Hebrew for “community,” The RCA is an organization of Orthodox Jewish rabbis. (WZPS) In 1994 two young Jerusalemites united to create the first ever Jewish multimedia magazine, CD JeMM, on CD- Rom, to promote interest in Jewishness and Israel among Jews in the Diaspora. Each issue contains three magazines—one for adults (CD-JeMM), one for teenagers (TEEN-JeMM) and one for children (KIDS-JeMM). The program contains multime dia featuring everything from an ulpan (class) to advertisements for El A1 Israel Airlines. Three CD-ROM issues have been released and a fourth is expected this summer. Jewish genealogy can be found on the worldweb at http://www.jewishgen.org at the homepage of JewishGen, a non profit organization. Files can be downloaded, such as a listing of Jewish genealogical societies around the world. The Jewish Genealogical Family Finder (JGFF) is a database of towns and family names. Hate on the Internet: ADL Update Children exploring the information super highway can encounter racist and anti-Semitic hate messages from extremists such as the KKK, neo-Nazi skin heads and the National Alliance. In an ongoing effort to fight hate on the Internet, the Anti- Defamation League (ADL) has prepared a guide encouraging parents to stay abreast of their child’s on-line exploration. The League’s homepage, located at http://www.adl.org, provides information essential to counter acting the hate in a manner con sistent with the First Amend ment. Warning! HATE ZONE, a Parent’s Guide: Help Your Child Safely Navigate the Internet pro vides questions and answers for parents who want to help their children distinguish good infor mation from bad information and productively deal with harmful and racist messages. This guide presents a list of appropriate ADL resources that address how to talk to your children about prejudice and bigotry. “High-tech haters are all the more pernicious because they are targeting the television-reared, multimedia, computer literate generation: our youth,” said Abraham H. Foxman, ADL National Director. “We need to meet the challenge of dealing with hate in this new and evolv ing environment by becoming educated consumers of cyber space,” added Mr. Foxman. “As we move into the 21st century, the ADL is committed to using the new technology to hold hate- mongers up to public scrutiny, as we have been doing since 1913.” The ADL report The Web of Hate: Extremists Exploit the Internet exposes extremist hate groups who have entered the Internet.
