The Charlotte Jewish News - September, 1996 - Page 5 Speizman Jewish Library Who, What, Where, When and Why By Amalia Warshenbrot As a new year begins, I wish to introduce the Speizman Jewish Library to newcomers and reintroduce it to the many people who walk through the library door. (Librarians call them library patrons.) The Speizman Jewish Library is open to all “y’all!” It serves syna gogue and JCC members at no charge. Others are required to give a refundable deposit for security, but are certainly wel come. Most of our patrons are the Hebrew school students, their teachers, and the JCC staff. We also receive daily requests from the non-Jewish community. These inquiries come form col lege and public school students, members of the clergy, and peo ple who want information about our religion, history or language. Many are using the Speizman Jewish Library for research on the Holocaust and Israel. Now that I have explained the “who,” the “what” is simple. What kind of books will you find in the Speizman Jewish Library? Our collection includes fiction and non-fiction. We have reference books with Jewish content and books by Jewish authors for all ages. We also have Jewish magazines. Where are we located?
