That’s $49,000 away from reaching this year’s goal of $1.6 million dollars. The campaign is already at an all time high for the Jewish community in Charlotte, 18% ahead of the 1996 campaign. “Obviously we are thrilled with the total to date,” said Bill Gorelick, Campaign Chair. “We would however, like to make the goal which is certainly achievable at this point.” The progress and pace of the campaign is well ahead of where it was this time last year. “Those who have not yet made a contribution need to know that every dollar counts.” said Marvin Goldberg, Executive Director of the Jewish Federation. “Each dollar we raise enables us to do more for the Jewish community here in Charlotte and to assist Jews in need around the world.” The 1996 campaign raised $1.4 million. To date, this year’s campaign has already generated $150,000 more than was raised last year. “We should be very proud of what we have accomplished thus far,” continued Goldberg. “Right now we are focusing our efforts on finishing the campaign and closing the remaining ‘open gifts.’ Our campaign is about building community. Each time a donor makes a gift to the campaign they are directly expressing their desire to stand up and be counted as a Jew who is committed to making a difference. We hope that all of our contributors recognize the importance of what they do and what an impact they are making.” ^ Ruth Goldberg Signs on as Women’s Division President Meg Goldstein and Stacy Gorelick to Chair Women's Division '98 Campaign The Jewish Federation is already in the process of lining up its leadership for the 1998 campaign. Ruth Goldberg has agre^ to continue her involvement in Women's Division by assuming the role as Women’s Division President. Meg Goldstein and Stacy Gorelick have committed to chair the Women's Division '98 Campaign effort. All are excited about the opportunity to take on leadership roles for next year. "Our plans arc to restructure the Women’s Division Cabinet to include both campaign and programming chairs," said Mrs. Goldberg. "We would like to grow the cabinet from 17 women to between 30 and 35. This will enable us to not only expand our programming but also broaden the base of leadership involved with Women's Division.” If you have any interest in being involved, please contact Cary Bernstein at 366-5007, ext. 209. « Ruth Goldberg Also Point of View ..page 2 Speizman Library ..page 8 Jewish Family Services ..page 9 Temple Beth El •page 14 Temple Israel ..page 15 Lubavitch of North Carolina . 16 CAJE ..page 17 The Jewish TVaveler ..page 18 Dining Out ..page 22 Federation to help fund Teen Israel TVavei The Jewish Federation of Greater Charlotte announced the availability of $500 stipends to offset the cost of a teen travel summer experience to Israel.
