I have almost completed a course in Judaism which I started in January. The course has really helped me to learn and grow in the traditions of the Jewish religion and to gain a new and deeper understanding, appreciation, and awareness of the holidays, the prayers, and what it means to be a Jew. In the class, we spend time studying history, prayers, rituals and the life cycle. The class is a catalyst that has pro pelled me into further reading and studying. Through the class, I find a deep er realization of what Passover means. I always knew that the hol iday commemorates the Exodus from Egypt. Passover now means even more to me. What I now know is that tzedakah is a very important aspect to the holiday. It is yet another reason for us to remember and assist those who are less fortunate than we are. Slavery is not limited to physical bondage. Spiritual slavery and social deterioration are no less powerful methods of depriving human beings of their liberty. Not having the means to purchase food Jewish Family Services thanks Jeffrey Epstein of Value Business Interiors for his generous donation of office furniture for our Satellite Office. Mr. Epstein donated the desk, chairs, bookcase, and file cabinets for the office. Thank you Mr. Epstein for your generous Mitzvah!!!! Many of us fail to realize that there are Jews in this community who are strug gling daily. We at Jewish Family Services witness these struggles on a daily basis. There is not a single day when someone from the Jewish Conununity does not walk into our office in need of food or financial assistance. It is sad to hear some one say that shampoo, soap and toilet paper are luxuries when most of us take these items for granted every time we shower or bathe. Passover is an excellent time for Jewish Family Services to add new staff as well the opening of our Satellite office. This new growth enables us to provide a broader scope of services to all those in need. It is also a wonderful feeling to know that we share a common mission of helping those who need us. If you know of someone who may need our assistance, please ask them to call JFS at 364-6594. • 75^ of newly diagnosed breast cancers each year are in women with no previous family history of breast cancer or no risk factors other than being a woman. • 90% of all lumps are found by women themselves and their part ner; 80% of all lumps are benign. • The breast cancer death rate has remained virtually unchanged for the past 40 years.
