He singled out his wife, Ruth, for aiding him in the promotion of the work of JFS. “We prove every day that we’re a compassionate and caring community,” Goldberg com mented, “and I can’t tell you how much pleasure that gives me.” ^ Alan Goldberg admires the gift he received at a dinner in his honor. The Executive Board of Jewish Family Services held a dinner party last month to pay tribute to Alan Goldberg, who is stepping down as Chairman after three years of service. Goldberg has been an active board member since the early 1990s. “Alan’s patience, enthusiasm, sense of humor, and level of car ing have benefited this agency enormously,” said Penny Wagner- Schuster, JFS Executive Director. “He worked tirelessly to raise our profile, and as an example of his leadership, he increased the goal of our annual Friends Campaign from around $50,000 to over $100,(X)0. He will be missed.” At the farewell party held at the home of Audrey Madans, new Chairman Jeff Turk thanked Goldberg for setting such high standards for the agency. Turk, who assumes leadership duties this month, also thanked outgoing board members Marilyn Shapiro and Nina Lewis for their efforts on behalf of JFS. “You make me look good,” Goldberg said in typically soft- spoken and self-deprecating fash- Outgoing JFS Chair Alan Goldberg with incoming Chair Jeff Turk. 18708 Nautical Dr., Unit #3, Commodores Landing H ighly sought townhome at Commodores Landing in Cornelius, NC. 4 bedroom, 3 bath townhome overlooking marina with plenty of ammenities: clubhouse pool, private marina, 2 lighted tennis courts. $269,900.
