Students in grades 8-12 will once again meet on Wednesday evenings from 7-9 to learn from the High School’s dedicated facul ty and from each other. Our cur riculum is designed to stimulate our students’ curiosity, to enhance their love of Judaism and to nur ture their identification with the Jewish people. Social action is a major compo nent of the program and all of our students understand the impor tance of Tikkun 01am (repairing the world). Students have many opportunities throughout the year for putting these lessons into action. They collect food for the hungry, Chanukah gifts for needy children, help at Jewish commu nal events and proudly represent CHS at Teen forums in the wider community. This year’s elective choices promise to be our most exciting ever. Added to the line-up of favorites will be: Back To the Source - A way to look at Contemporary issues through the eyes of classical Jewish works. But a fight with your friends, a problem with a teacher, or tension with your parents can ruin a good day. This class will consider what Judaism asks of us in relation ships. Students will learn concrete methods to improve communica tions with others. Jewish Holidays with a New Twist - The class will explore their favorite holidays from an adult perspective.
